Florence Photo Tours
Shooting Florence Right Place Right Time with the Professional Photographer Andrea Bonfanti
I came up with the idea for Tuscany Photo Tours in 2010. In short: I wanted to organize a half-day photo workshop for photographers who wanted to improve their skills and take home beautiful photos of the Tuscan landscape, but who didn't want to commit to a workshop that lasted several days. I wanted to offer this half-day service with a photographer who had a deep knowledge of both, Photography and the Tuscan landscape.
At the beginning, I simply picked up clients at their hotel in Siena and take them on a tour of the stunning Crete Senesi. This lunar landscape is very similar to the Val d'Orcia, but it has the advantage of being just a few kilometers away from the city of the Palio. It is the hilly landscape depicted in the "Good Government" by Ambrogio Lorenzetti in the halls of Siena's Palazzo Pubblico.
Success was immediate. Today, I can organize seven private Photo Tours by car through the Tuscan landscape, as well as three different photo walks in Siena and Florence.
Then, of course, the imitators arrived. Some of them even copied my tour names to optimize their visibility on search engines.
But be warned: the authentic Tuscan Landscape Photo Tours Experience can only be found on these pages!
I have no logistical problems. Living in both, center of Florence and Crete Senesi, I'm able to meet even last-minute requests.
What is the profile of a Tuscany Photo Tour partecipant?
Over the years, I have had a very diverse range of clients on my Photo Tours. The most frequent are enthusiastic amateur photographers, who want to capture the Tuscan landscape also beyond the "iconic locations" and add a personal touch to their landscape Photography.
On the contrary, some people are just looking for these clichés and want to photograph as many as possible of them within three hours: the people of Instagrammers, who take selfies in front of the cypress-lined avenue. Sometimes, I help them take pictures with their smartphones.
However, some professional photographers use the photo tour simply to take a look around, exploring the locations. Then, they return back alone on the field, with the lighting I recommended.
Finally, some people use a photo tour as an excuse to escape Florence and Siena for a half day trip through the Tuscan countryside without the hassle of having to rent a car, drive on unfamiliar roads, and pay for fuel!
All of these clients share a love—sometimes bordering on real devotion—for the Tuscan landscape and a passion for Photography, though they express it in very different ways.
You can go on a Tuscany Photo Tour or a Florence Photo Walk:
- to discover or rediscover innovative aspects of a region/city, guided by a professional who has total familiarity with the territory and who is just as fascinated by Tuscany as you.
- to find yourself at the "right spot at the right time" and capture beautiful images of your trip, whatever the weather.
- to improve your photographic technique and deepen your knowledge of Tuscany.
I won't simply drive you "from point A to point B" but i will help you to compose your photos to the best and get you involved in the subjects you photograph.
Differences between Florence Photo Walk and Tuscany Photo Tour
- Tuscany Photo Tour is by car, so the maximum number of permitted participants is four.
- Florence Photo Walks (two) and Siena Photo Walk (just one) are simply walking tours, but also have a limited numbers of participants (max four-five). This is to safeguard the optimal personal experience and satisfaction of every single participant.
- a Tuscany Photo Tour last from a minimum of three hours to a maximum of six. You are free to choose a Sunrise Tour leaving from your hotel before dawn, or a Sunset Tour to live the experience of the Tuscan golden hour in amazing spots.
In any case, you'll decide the departure time.
- a Florence/Siena Photo Walk is a two-hour tour. I normally meet participants at 9 a.m., but times are flexible depending on the season and your need
- with a Tuscany Photo Tour, you pay for the service. For example, if you are the only participant, you will pay the full amount. If there are three of you, the cost will be divided into three equal parts. Quite simple, isn't it?
- normally the cost of a Tuscany Photo Tour includes pick-up/ drop-off directly at the hotel. Some times, however, this service is not offer. For example if you book a Crete Senesi photo Tour moving from Florence, the meeting point is in the Porta Romana area, South of the city, so that you avoid the chaotic traffic of Florence and do not waste time and money trapped in nerve-wracking queues.
- Florence/Siena Photo Walks start in the historic centre of Florence and Siena, in well-known spots easily accessible by walking.
- In case of bad weather, the tour may be postponed to the following day or moved up to the previous day, depending on our respective schedules. If the bad weather persists, the tour may be canceled entirely at no cost.
- no particular photographic equipment is required. Your eyes are always the most important lens, don't forget it!
